The tuners are standard split-post vintage types and the 'student' cream plastic buttons suit the guitar. However, they are not as accurate as a Strat's individual saddles. There's no vibrato, but the top-load bridge is efficient with three saddles that, like a Tele's, are adjustable for height and intonation. Likewise the brushed aluminium scratchplate - a deeper gold than the originals and hopefully the anodising is more robust - that holds the two cream covered single-coils, Tele-knobbed volume and tone, the output socket and a robust feeling three-way toggle pickup selector on the treble-side horn. The Duo-Sonic features a really good desert sand finish over a thinner 38mm thick basswood body (with rear belly contour), that is more opaque than the original blonde. The fundamental difference is that, sensibly, the scale length is increased to 24-inches (the same as the Jaguar), and we have a different name on the headstock, but it has vintage vibe in spades.

I only have a few pictures of the guitar, these were taken before I put the Phat Cat in. A tone control has been added (originally came with only a volume pot) I will take close up pics when I have some good outside light to shoot in. The back of the guitar is pretty much spotless- no buckle rash.

There are two small dents in the finish on the upper bought, and two chips in the headstock. Why wasnt the Musicmaster (guitar) as publicised or popular as the other Vista Series guitars The Musicmaster (guitar) came out in 1998, after the others. The body is in very good shape cosmetically.
The neck has a nice subtle flame figuring to it. It's very resonant and has a nice, lively sound unplugged. The frets could use a bit of dressing in certain spots to be perfect, but it's totally playable as is. The neck pocket is very tight, the hardware is the same quality as the MIJ and MIM Fenders. Most of the Vistas were made in Japan, but the Musicmaster guitar and bass were both made in China apparently - this is still a high quality axe though. It's is a '98 Squier Vista Series Musicmaster. Just bought a super nice Tele body, so this one has to go.
